#036: STEM: The Future Outlook for Girls and Children of Color
Show Notes

In this episode, I interview a technology company recruiter and talent acquisition partner in order to have a real conversation about the future of STEM for girls and children of color. If you haven’t heard about STEM, it basically is any field that has a strong foundation in Science, Technology, Engineering, and/or Math.

You may be wondering…why just focusing on girls and children of color. Well, jobs within the STEM field are some of the highest paying jobs with the least amount of individuals in the talent pool here in the U.S. We often have to recruit from overseas to fulfill positions. Not only that, the STEM field is White male dominated, and of minority populations, STEM fields consists of a large Asian representation. So it is important to understand that women and minority groups such as African Americans, Latinos, and Native Americans are largely underrepresented, and you know who can change that narrative? YOU! You as a parent can position your children to consider a career in STEM - especially if they are in these underrepresented groups. After all, it is the wave of the future.
